Uh-huh. My mom, my grandma, and their ancestors before them going way back. Now my family helps run it. It'll probably be my job someday!

Oh relax, of course I will! These festivals have been a part of my life ever since I was a little kid.

But this year's extra-special because we get to perform!

This'll be my first traditional Japanese festival. Should be interesting.

I absolutely adore Japanese festivals! The only problem is, I never know what to eat first!

The shrine is a well-known spiritual power spot. I, Yohane, intend to absorb every last iota of its energy!

Look at all these little stalls. This is kinda cool!

Hey, they're doing katanuki.

What's a katanuki?

Oh, it's a classic festival game. Check it out. They've got all those little boards with shapes carved into them, see?

You have to use a little needle to carefully poke at them. If you can carve the shape without breaking it, you win a prize. It's fun.

It's harder than it looks, right?

Even though the shapes are pretty simple, the boards tend to snap easily.

Ugh, I'm not good with fine detail skills like that…

Personally, I enjoy those kinds of intricate crafts.

For some reason, I always end up getting really into them!

I'll never forget the look on that woman's face when you flawlessly carved out that jellyfish.

You carved out a jellyfish?! Now that's impressive!

Ahh, that's Superball scooping.

Whenever I go to a festival with Honoka and the others, this is one of the activities we always do.

Honoka always goes full-tilt from round one, but as we keep playing Umi gets fired up too. In the end, it turns into a showdown between the two of them.

And who usually wins?

Hmm… I'd say their win-loss records are about even.

Which is why they can never resist going at it…

The way Umi gets worked up about Superball scooping, you'd think she was still a kid!

*Giggle* Well, she's been doing it since she was little. Some things you just don't grow out of!

I mean, I do. I'm just not very good at it…

After I play a few times I tend to just step aside and cheer the two of them on.

Hmm. Hey, I have an idea. Why don't we have a little showdown of our own?

Ah ha ha! Good idea! I bet it'll be a fierce competition.
