Emma Ep. 32: A Common Dilemma
You and Emma are shown some photos that Mai has found. They are wonderful photos and treasures of the Natsukawa Photography Studio. Meanwhile, Mai feels inadequate and anxious about her own photography skills.
Mai
These photos are the pride of the Natsukawa Photography Studio. Look.
Emma
Oh, wow…
Player
Incredible…
Player
I don't know what to say… It's like every subject in each photo is unaware that they're being photographed…
Emma
They have a really fun air about them.
Mai
Exactly. Their facial expressions make you think that the photo was taken mid-conversation, right? But they're all looking right at the camera.
Player
Hey, here's a Shichi-Go-San commemorative photo.
Emma
It's so cute! Everyone's all smiley.
Player
Ayumu and I have taken ones like this before. Ayumu was all nervous and frozen stiff.
Mai
Right? Pretty neat, huh? There are even more of these pictures yet.
Mai
After turning my focus to photography, I knew it wouldn't be an easy road. But I thought that if I keep working hard, I could revitalize this photo studio.
Mai
Even so, I don't think I can take pictures as lovely as these, even if I keep trying at the rate I'm going…
Emma
Mai…
Player
Mai. Will you hear us out about the time you passed your song down to Emma?
Emma
Huh?! Wait, that's—
Option 1: “Let's tell her the whole story.” |
---|
Player Let's tell her the whole story, Emma. Emma Well, if you say so… |
Option 2: “We should give her that insight.” |
Player I think we should give her that insight. Emma …Okay. I'll trust you. |
Player
Emma looked super happy when you passed your song down to her onstage. Remember that, Mai?
Player
But as time went on, she became more and more anxious. When I asked her about it, she said she felt pressured.
Player
At first she was just happy, but then she was worried about if it was okay for her to sing the song and whether or not she could convey your and everyone else's feelings.
Mai
Is that true, Emma? I mean, onstage you're always…
Emma
Yeah. The feelings in that song were too much for me…
Emma
But it's that song that brought me to Japan, so I definitely didn't want to give up.
Emma
That's why I did a lot of special training. I asked Karin and Ai for training tips, while Shizuku and Shioriko taught me how to carry myself.
Mai
Emma…
Mai
I've made up my mind. I'm going to train too. I'd bring shame to you if I sat around, moped, and did nothing!
Mai
Join me for my own special training, Emma!
Emma
Yeah, of course!
