Ayumu Ep. 24: A Slightly Strange Story
Ayumu has been given the role of writing the signature song for the Sci-Fi Club's movie. In order to understand the movie on a deeper level, she decides to ask someone who might know more than a thing or two—Rina.
Rina
So with every time leap that's performed, the entropy decreases.
Rina
That entropy needs to be balanced somehow, which is how the idea came about to send it off to Mars from the time machine fashioned out of a spaceship. Cool, huh?
Rina
Whoever came up with this story is incredible…
Player
Did you get all of that, Ayumu?
Ayumu
S-Sorry, I couldn't make heads or tails of it at all.
Ayumu
Argh! I'm sorry, Rina! You went out of your way to come here on your day off but I just don't understand the story…
Player
Sorry, Rina. I didn't get it either…
Rina
You don't have to apologize. It was a topic I love, so I got carried away talking about a lot of stuff. I can understand why you guys are so lost.
Rina
I'll explain it without the complicated parts, okay? When you perform a time leap, you're left with excess power for the amount of time you've rewound. It can't be nullified.
Rina
The whole premise of launching that power to Mars to defeat the aliens is what's so incredible.
Rina
But what I love most about this movie is something I think you've mentioned before, Ayumu.
Ayumu
Something I've mentioned before?
Rina
Yeah. The fact that it's a story about doing your best for those you hold dear, no matter what crisis happens.
Ayumu
Th-That's right! I love the protagonist in the story. It's so cool how she never gives up, even if she fails, cries, or has her spirit crushed.
Ayumu
I get it now… Maybe we should write a song based on that part of it.
Ayumu
Hey, is it okay to write a song like that?
Player
Of course.
[Fade in/out.]
Ayumu
Hey, Rina? Can time machines really be made?
Rina
They apparently can, theoretically. Would you want to go for a ride if you had a time machine?
Ayumu
Hmm… I don't know. What about you two?
Rina
I would. I want to know what happens to the balance of entropy after time leaping.
Player
I think I'll pass. I mean, it's just too much fun watching everyone in the present. How about you, Ayumu?
Ayumu
Umm, I'd love to take a ride!
Ayumu
Like back to our preschool sleepovers, or when we went potato harvesting, or our trips to the amusement park as elementary schoolers. There are so many moments I want to relive!
Rina
It really does sound nice to be able to relive fun moments.
Ayumu
Right?
[Fade in/out.]
Option 1: “Have you got a pretty solid idea for your song now?” |
---|
Player Have you got a pretty solid idea for your song now? Ayumu Yeah, it's still pretty vague and up in the air, though. |
Option 2: “It's a good thing you spoke to Rina.” |
Player It's a good thing you spoke to Rina. Ayumu Yeah. I was so focused on the complicated parts of the story that I completely overlooked what was important. |
Player
Then let's regroup and put our hearts into songwriting again!
Ayumu
Right! I want to take this vague idea and really talk it out, so could I go over to your place?
