Ch. 47 Ep. 10: The Grass is Greener
You notice a perspective that you were missing during your conversation with Ayumu. Just the next morning, you start discussing it with everyone after they have all gathered together.
Kanata
G'morning! *Yawn*
Player
Oh, Kanata's here! Morning! Hurry up, come here!
Kanata
Huh? What is it?
Player
Um, let me ask you a few questions before morning practice. It's about the school pamphlet.
Shioriko
What is it?
Player
Well, I do want people to know how nice Nijigasaki is, but I realized there was something else that's just as important.
Karin
And what might that be?
Player
What sorts of things you can learn here at Nijigasaki High School.
Setsuna
That's included in the descriptions of the academic departments, isn't it?
Player
Yes, I guess so, but…I still think it's kind of hard to picture what students are actually doing.
Player
I always wanted to study music, so when I got into the music department here, I was super happy and excited about the future.
Player
That's why I did so much research before choosing this school. But there were limits to what I could find out on my own, and I wished I could learn more.
Kanata
Hmm, I think I remember feeling the same way.
Emma
Me too…
Player
Having specialized departments is one of the unique aspects of Nijigasaki.
Player
There are music courses out there, but not many. And data analysis, international exchange, and life design courses really aren't that common at all.
Player
So I'm sure there's a lot of people out there who are interested in Nijigasaki's courses.
Shioriko
I think you have a good point there.
Player
Wouldn't you want to know specifically what kind of classes people will take, what kinds of subjects there are, and what you can do with them?
Karin
Yeah, I would. I don't know what kind of stuff people study in the other courses, even though we all go to the same school.
Mia
That sounds interesting.
Shizuku
It's true. I have no idea what people are studying over in the data analysis course.
Kasumi
Huh? Like, hacking and stuff, right?
Ai
*Laugh* Hacking, huh!
Rina
It's all about learning more about data analysis and studying programming.
Rina
It teaches you the skills that programmers and engineers at IT companies, game companies, and places like that require.
Rina
But it's not just that, of course. That's just the easiest way to explain it, I think.
Kasumi
You lost me from the very first sentence…
Karin
And what kind of stuff do you study in the international exchange course?
Shizuku
Hmm… The basics of playing an active role in the global world and such? I suppose the obvious place to start would be learning another language.
Kanata
Then you must be fluent in English, Shizuku!
Shizuku
N-Not at all! Not in the least! I might be able to hold a simple conversation, I think…
Kanata
Even that's amazing!
Emma
Also, since we have students from many different countries here, you get to listen to stories about their home countries and experience different cultures during events.
Setsuna
Cross-cultural events? That sounds fun!
Lanzhu
Like a festival!
Emma
There are also overseas study trips and exchange programs.
Player
Huh. So they have overseas study trips as well.
Ayumu
You went on one for your music course too, right?
Player
Yeah. It was really inspiring for me. I hope we can convey stuff like that in the pamphlet.
Player
Turns out there are lots of things that can be learned just by listening to students who are actually enrolled in the courses, huh.
Player
So maybe it would make people happier if their introductions were done by students like us.
Shioriko
You all have interest in courses besides your own, it seems.
Kasumi
If grades aren't a part of it, I'd love to sit in on classes for other courses! They sound interesting.
Mia
Oh Kasumi, you're so silly. Now you want to visit other courses' classes like you're on a field trip?
Mia
Oh, or maybe you just want taking for a walk, Little Puppy?
Kasumi
I am not a puppy and I'm not talking about going for a walk! I just have a thirst for knowledge, that's all!
Shizuku
Okay, okay, I gotcha.
Kasumi
Don't be so condescending!
Shioriko
…………
Player
So what do you think, Shioriko?
Shioriko
You have presented me with a very important point of view.
Shioriko
I had an idea while listening to all of you just now.
