Ch. 40 Ep. 3: Making Recipes is Bliss!
One day after school, Kanata asks you to taste test something. What has she whipped up this time?
Kanata
Thanks for everything today, everybody!
Player
I'm the one who should be thanking you. I'm so lucky to get to eat your food, Kanata.
Kanata
*Giggle* Give me that much credit and you'll make me blush!
Kanata
Today is only a taste test, you know. There's a possibility it won't even taste good…
Rina
No way, I'm sure it'll taste great. Rina-chan Board says, “Tense.”
Shizuku
Yup. Everything you make tastes fantastic, Kanata!
Mia
I remember back on the deserted island training camp, I was shocked by how skillfully you made that amazing food!
Kanata
Aww, you're all such good girls! I'm gonna give you all a nice pat on the head!
Rina
I can't wait to taste your cooking, Kanata. Rina-chan Board says, “Woo-hoo!”
Kanata
Now I really have to give it my all! It'll be ready in a little while, okay?
[Fade in/out.]
Kanata
Okay, it's ready!
Kanata
Fried chicken, chicken with scallions, chicken soup… It's all about the chicken!
Player
Wow, that looks delicious! Time to dig in!
Mia
*Munch* *Munch* Mmm! Delicious! It's sooo good, Kanata! I like all of them!
Rina
The meat is really succulent. Rina-chan Board says, “So soft!”
Shizuku
Mmm, it's super scrumptious!
Shizuku
We barely even waited 30 minutes… How'd you make three dishes so quickly?
Kanata
They're all made using different methods, so I made them all at the same time.
Kanata
I deep fried the fried chicken, microwaved the chicken with scallions, and left the soup to simmer.
Shizuku
What about the seasoning and stuff? There must be more to it than that, right?
Kanata
I guess so. But the chicken is all seasoned the same, so that part wasn't too time-consuming.
Kanata
The meat's been marinating in salted koji since yesterday, plus the marinade also makes it really tender. It's super handy!
Player
I don't even know what to say. I'm flabbergasted…
Mia
You're doing stuff in the life design course that I could have never even imagined.
Shizuku
I understand the steps on paper, but I'd never be able to copy this.
Rina
It's amazing that you can whip this up so easily, Kanata!
Kanata
Tee-hee! Eat up before it gets cold, now!
[Fade in/out.]
Player
Thank you so much! That was super yummy!
Kanata
You're welcome! I'm just glad you all enjoyed it. Now I can hand in my assignment!
Rina
Assignment? What assignment?
Kanata
To make a quick, convenient recipe you can use when you're busy.
Shizuku
I see. So if you prepare plenty of chicken seasoned with salted koji, you can use it for all kinds of dishes, huh?
Kanata
Bingo!
Kanata
When I'm busy I usually stick to my specialties, but if I prepare something that can be used in a bunch of ways, I can give Haruka plenty of different things to eat.
Mia
Haruka must be in heaven, getting to eat delicious cooking like this all the time.
Kanata
I can make something for you too, Mia. What do you want to eat?
Mia
A hamburger!
Kanata
*Giggle* Okay, I'll prepare a recipe for some yummy burgers next, then.
Shizuku
So does this mean you want to be a chef when you're older, Kanata?
Kanata
Hm? I dunno… I've never really thought about it.
Kanata
I'm sure I'll always love cooking, but I think I'm more interested in being a culinary researcher or something like that rather than a chef at a restaurant.
Rina
A culinary researcher?
Kanata
Yeah. Good food has the amazing ability to make people feel happy, right? I think everyone should be able to cook what makes them happy easily.
Kanata
I'd love to be able to think up tasty recipes that make people feel good and teach them to everyone… That'd be great.
Kanata
People who create and upload cooking videos online helped me out a lot when I was starting my own culinary journey, too.
Kanata
So now, instead of the one receiving help, I'd like to be the one giving it! *Chuckle*
Player
That's so you. What a wonderful dream to have!
Mia
Hey, Kanata. Are there any recipes simple enough for someone like me to make?
Rina
I wanna know, too.
Shizuku
I'd like to try making something too!
Kanata
Of course. Why don't we make something right now, then?
Mia
Yeah!
Kanata
Okey-dokey. Wash your hands, everybody!
