Ch. 27 Ep. 2: Adorable Baby Sister
Life with Kaoruko back at home has thrown Shioriko for a loop, while laid-back Kaoruko has begun working as a trainee teacher. What kind of lesson does Kaoruko have in store for her students?
Kaoruko
All right, everyone in your seats. Class has started! But it's such a beautiful day that it feels like a waste to be sitting at your desks, huh?
Kaoruko
Honestly, even I kind of wish that I could go outside. Ah, but don't tell any of the other teachers that, okay?
Kaoruko
Once you've gotten into that mood, it's hard to go back to normal, isn't it?
Kaoruko
All right, I know what we'll do! This period is supposed to be world history, but today I'm just going to tell you stories.
Kaoruko
I'll tell you about all the cool things that I saw traveling around the world. That's still related to the world, so it should be okay.
Kaoruko
So this one time, I was in South America…
[Fade in/out.]
Kaoruko
Oh, this seat's open. Do you mind if I sit at this table?
Player
Go ahead. You're eating your lunch in the cafeteria, Kaoruko? Since you're a teacher, I thought you'd eat in the faculty room.
Kaoruko
The food from this cafeteria just looked so good! Besides, the faculty room is full of teachers, so it's really stuffy in there.
Kaoruko
That aside, how was my class just now? Was it okay? I ended up just chatting with everyone for the whole lesson.
Player
I really enjoyed it. You did a really good job of tying your travel experiences into world history, so it was really enlightening.
Player
And I wasn't the only one who thought so. Everyone was listening with bated breath.
Player
Oh, but after hearing you say you eventually adapted to a new place despite not speaking the local language, everyone was talking about how mysterious you are after class.
Kaoruko
Hmm, I was worried I'd gone overboard and talked too much, but it sounds like I'm safe. You're not just saying that to be nice though, are you?
Player
No, I really mean it!
Player
I think you're really good at getting people to have fun, Kaoruko.
Kaoruko
Aww, you're seriously too kind. I still have a long way to go. I've only managed to do a little bit of what I want to do.
Kaoruko
Hey, there's something I want to ask. Do you mind?
Player
No, go right ahead.
Kaoruko
It's about Shioriko.
Kaoruko
Getting to see Shioriko becoming a school idol is almost like a treat for me, but I'm curious about what sort of change of heart led to that.
Kaoruko
I mean, she never used to feel all that warmly about school idols before.
Kaoruko
But seeing her now for the first time in a while, she sure is working hard as one.
Kaoruko
I gave her a pep talk during the School Idol Festival, but I doubt that's what changed her mind.
Kaoruko
Could you help me fill in the blanks on my baby sister? What in the world happened?
Player
Hmm. Well, you see…
[Fade in/out.]
Kaoruko
Ahh, I understand now… Well, I'm just glad that she's become more honest with herself. Thanks a bunch.
Player
No need to thank me! I'm super excited about Shioriko becoming a school idol!
Kaoruko
*Giggle* I'm sure it'll be reassuring for her to have you around.
Kaoruko
But I think I get it now. She really is still just a kid, huh?
Player
What do you mean?
Kaoruko
She's so stubborn and short-sighted that she's always gotten herself into trouble easily. That's why I can never leave her alone.
Kaoruko
Though that's exactly what makes her so lovable as well.
[Fade in/out.]
Uzuki
President, could you check over these documents?
Satsuki
Please and thank you!
Shioriko
Okay. Oh, there were still this many left? I'd better hurry up and check them.
Uzuki
Oh, this isn't student council work.
Shioriko
What? Well, what is this stack of papers then?
Satsuki
It's the perfect plan that we came up with to help you catch up to Setsuna Yuki!
Shioriko
P-Perfect plan?
Satsuki
If you follow this plan to the letter, student council president…no, school idol Shioriko Mifune will be on par with Setsuna Yuki!
Shioriko
I-I see…
Satsuki
And the first order of business is coming up with a solid strategy for your image! If you go all heavy metal with your next song…
Uzuki
Satsuki, wait. Heavy metal wouldn't suit the president. Instead, she should go in a more emotional, expressive direction with her music.
Satsuki
No, heavy metal!
Uzuki
No way. I'd like her to do more soulful singing.
Satsuki
If you want soulful, then heavy metal is the way to go!
Uzuki
Something like enka is the best way to be soulful, though…
Satsuki
No, no, it's gotta be heavy metal!
Shioriko
Please calm down, you two. I'll try out both. Thank you for doing all this research for me.
Satsuki
Ah! You can count on us!
Uzuki
We will work wholeheartedly to support you in becoming the most amazing school idol possible!
Shioriko
*Chuckle* That's very reassuring. Thank you.
