Ch. 26 Ep. 9: A Ray of Hope

You're having difficulty writing songs for the units. You try to clear your head, then attempt to sleep it off, but you're still stuck. Mia notices you and might have some advice to offer.

Player

*Sigh* Going for a walk didn't help clear my head. I really didn't expect writing songs for units to be this difficult.

Player

We don't have a lot of time before the auditions…

Mia

What?! What the hell?! Oh my god…

Player

Wh-What's going on?!

[Fade in/out.]

Mia

Ugh, it's this. I need hot chocolate if I'm gonna write songs.

Player

Mia, hot chocolate powder doesn't melt just by heating it up on the stove in a pot. You need to add water or milk. It's written on the box.

Mia

Oh, I didn't know that. I'll keep that in mind. But with modern advancements don't you think it's about time someone invented powder that does turn into hot chocolate?

Player

(She's not gonna remember it…)

Mia

Huh? Are you writing songs, little baby?

Player

Little baby? Do you mean me?

Mia

Yeah. I'm acknowledging that you've grown up a bit from being an unhatched egg of a composer. It suits you, right?

Player

Ahaha…

Player

I guess… But I'm still an unhatched egg. I haven't even grown into a baby yet.

Mia

What's up? I'll hear you out while I drink my hot chocolate.

Player

You will?! There's actually something I wanted to ask you!

Player

You wrote Karin and Ai's song, right?

Mia

Yeah. What about it?

Player

That song really brought out so much of their appeal, and was really high quality especially for a unit song. I wanna know how you came up with it.

Player

I don't have much trouble when it comes to writing a song for one specific person.

Player

All I had to do for that was ask that person about her goals, what she's trying to express, and how to best show off her unique charms. Then it would be easy to write.

Player

But for a unit's song, I feel like there's a lot I still don't fully understand.

Mia

Even little babies have trouble sometimes, huh.

Mia

I may be young but I'm a professional. Did you think you could just breezily ask me about songwriting for free?

Player

R-Right… Sorry.

Mia

It's a joke! D-Don't look so dejected!

Mia

Um, let's see… What do you think is the most important thing when it comes to writing songs?

Player

The most important thing? I'm not sure.

Mia

It's having a concept.

Mia

When you write a solo song for someone in the Club, you make sure to write something that really suits her, right? The same thing goes for units.

Mia

The girls who are usually soloists are forming units this time around. They must have a goal for doing that.

Mia

For Karin and Ai, it's all about winning. They want their respective charms to clash and blow up so that they can win. It's a clever idea since they're such opposites.

Mia

I thought that was a great concept. It's the perfect weapon for those two. That's how I knew what kind of song I was supposed to make.

Mia

I think your first step is to figure out what goals the Club girls have for forming their units.

Player

That makes sense. I was only thinking about how to accommodate each individual person. I should've been focusing on their reasons and goals for teaming up.

Player

I hadn't been thinking about that at all! Thank you, Mia. That was really helpful advice! Let me repay you sometime!

Mia

Don't worry about it. I still owed you one from the online live show…

Mia

I'm really curious to see what kind of songs you'll write. Looking forward to your songs is reward enough.

[Fade in/out.]

Player

Thanks for meeting with me, you guys.

Emma

What's the important thing you wanted to talk about?

Rina

Did you finish our songs?

Player

Sorry, not yet. I called you all together today so you could give me more information.

Player

I want you to tell me everything. Why did you want to form a unit, and why did you pick your specific members?

Player

What do you consider important as a group, and what do you want to express? Tell me everything!

Kasumi

Oh, okay. If that's what you wanted, then ask away. I myself have epic tales to tell you!

Kanata

I've realized a few things after deciding to join a group. Can I talk about that, too?

Player

Of course!

Setsuna

We decided to form a unit when Ayumu misunderstood what we were talking about—

Ayumu

S-Setsuna! Keep that a secret!

Player

Oh, it's a secret? I'd like you to tell me everything. I think I'll be able to write a good song for you guys once I know all the details.

Ayumu

But… *Groan*

Shizuku

Let's tell her without hiding anything, Ayumu…

Ayumu

Urgh, all right… I decided I wanted to form a unit back when…
