Ch. 10 Ep. 1: New President Impressions
Although she felt down about her student council election loss, Setsuna expresses her true feelings and returns to the club. As everyone gears up to restart school idol activities, Shioriko announces the club's abolishment.
Shizuku
She may be the new student council president, but abolishing the club without our input is just too tyrannical.
Player
We've gotta do something to change her mind. I don't want the club to be abolished like this.
Ayumu
Me neither, especially not after all the effort we've put into it.
Kasumi
That's right! If I want to become the cutest school idol in all of Japan, I can't just bow down to Shioriko Mifune's oppression!
Karin
For someone who claims she can see everything logically, she's really putting the boot down on us and only us.
Kanata
Mifune just doesn't understand the appeal of school idols. She's missing out!
Emma
I wonder if she told anybody else to disband their clubs? It really makes you wonder what her reputation as student council president is like.
Rina
With how heavy-handed she's being, probably not great.
Ai
Yeah, uh, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Player
She was elected because everyone agreed with her methods. I don't think she'd have a bad reputation.
Ayumu
Maybe she's more cooperative when it comes to other clubs and teams?
Ai
Kasumin and I went and looked into it again, and I dunno if she's got like, a carrot and stick thing going on, or a good cop/bad cop kinda thing but… Um…
Rina
What do you mean?
Ai
Well, remember how she went to each of the clubs and gave advice before the election? She's doing that, but it's like she's in hyper-mode.
Kasumi
She's still doing pretty much the same thing, but now it's like she's got no limits. No holds barred.
Karin
No holds barred?
Kasumi
When she was doing it before… Well, let's just look at the tennis club. She'd watch them and maybe move a singles player over to doubles based on their play style…
Kasumi
She was basically taking their strengths and expanding on them.
Ai
But now, she's apparently looking at the bad stuff too. She'll be like, this isn't really for you. You should do this instead.
Kanata
Yikes… Is that true?
Ai
Apparently, there was someone on the track team who was told she wasn't any good at track, so she should go join the soccer team instead.
Emma
That probably wound up hurting their feelings pretty badly, huh?
Ai
Well, yeah, they were pretty clear they didn't wanna make the switch.
Shizuku
Well, of course. Being told to quit doing something you like just because you're not suited for it is just…
Ai
But this is where Mifune shines, actually. From what I heard, she manages to explain her reasoning so well, they wind up agreeing and going along with her advice.
Ai
What's more, even the people who were reluctant to go through with it eventually wound up doing a total 180 and being super grateful for the advice.
Karin
I don't understand it myself, but if both parties are in agreement, then I suppose that's a good thing.
Shizuku
Even so, it appears as though she is telling people that they cannot do what does not suit them. That does not sit well with me.
Ayumu
I agree with you, but we probably can't criticize her too much if there are people who appreciate what she's doing.
Rina
She really must have an eye for these kinds of things, then. Rina-chan Board says, “Hmm.”
Kasumi
They're not the only ones who support the student council president. She's been just as forward with the board of directors.
Emma
What?! To the board?!
Kasumi
That's right. She successfully negotiated with the board for the procurement of a special budget.
Kasumi
I've heard that that's why there'll be a new training room for the sports club, expensive technical books for the library, and new instruments for the wind instrument club.
Ai
Not to mention, that's why the drama club's getting a famous director to come give a lecture.
Shizuku
What? Are you saying that Mifune arranged for that?
Player
It's pretty tough to get new equipment like that, right? I mean, getting a budget that huge is definitely not something to sneeze at.
Player
She must be doing a lot of hard work behind the scenes.
Karin
I give up. I can't complain if she's putting in that much work.
Ai
Anyway, even though she's going about it in a pretty crazy way, there's no shortage of people who see her in a positive light.
Rina
That is…pretty amazing.
Kanata
But Setsuna did a fine job as a student council president too. I don't think it's right for people to just change sides like this.
Setsuna
No, I believe it's the natural stance to take.
Player
Setsuna?
Setsuna
I may have done all I could in my own way, but seeing how hard Mifune was working during the election, I couldn't help but feel like I barely did anything at all.
Setsuna
I guess it just feels like…Mifune is completely invested in being the student council president.
Emma
I think you did an excellent job all around, Setsuna.
Setsuna
Thank you very much. However, I really don't think it was enough. If you were to ask if I approached and considered every individual student, I would not be able to answer.
Setsuna
Also, in most cases, there is a set budget that has to be worked within. A supplementary budget would generally be unthinkable.
Setsuna
For her to receive board approval means that she must have prepared enough materials to convince the board that the supplementary budget was necessary.
Setsuna
It is not as easy as it sounds. Heaven only knows how much time and effort it must have taken. It's not something that can be done unless you're passionate about it.
Setsuna
I think she is an upstanding person who truly cares about the school and the students. That's why I'm honestly glad that she became the new student council president.
Ayumu
Setsuna…
Setsuna
However, her trying to disband our club is a completely different matter!
Player
Yeah! That's exactly right! It just feels wrong to think we have no choice but to get abolished.
Ayumu
There's also the issues with the School Idol Festival, so we need to give it all we've got.
Player
Ayumu's right. We need to find some way to push back and save the club!
