Year of the Ox-ercise Ep. 4
Umi
Karin has done some amateur modeling work, so I hear she's quite knowledgeable about maintaining her figure.
Umi
But why are you her assistant, Kanan? What exactly will you do?
Kanan
I've heard from Shizuku and the others that Karin's training regimens tend to be brutal. I decided I might as well take this opportunity to learn something, too.
Kanan
Karin is really strict, so I'm sure she'll push us all really hard. I'm looking forward to it!
Umi
Is that so? Then I would like to partake in this lesson as well. Perhaps we can incorporate it into the training we do for μ's.
Karin
Sure, but we're not going to be doing anything all that special. I'll do my best to meet all of your expectations, though!
Chika
Karin and Kanan working together hand-in-hand…
Honoka
Are we gonna make it out of this alive?
Rina
Relax, you two. I'll join in too, so we can all work our hardest together. Rina-chan Board says, “All smiles.”
Karin
All right, it's high time we got started. Today we'll be using this.
Honoka
What is that?
Chika
Is it…a racket for Japanese badminton?
Karin
Right, one of the classic wooden ones. It's New Year's after all, so why not do something for the season?
Karin
I'll provide a simple explanation. Come help me out, Kanan.
Kanan
Roger!
Karin
Japanese badminton has really simple rules. You stand on either side of the net and bat the shuttlecock back and forth, like this.
Karin
Just avoid dropping the shuttlecock, and serve it back to your opponent's court.
Karin
It's essentially the same as the more common badminton.
Honoka
Oh, that's it? I thought we were in for something more grueling.
Chika
That IS simple!
[Fade in/out.]
Karin
So now we'll get a bit more serious. Are you ready, Kanan?
Kanan
I'm ready any time!
Karin, Kanan
Haaaa!
[Fade in/out.]
Umi
I-I cannot even see the shuttlecock!
Rina
I'm amazed that Kanan and Karin are able to strike those super-fast shots back and forth. Rina-chan Board says, “Shocked!”
Honoka, Chika
…………
Karin
…And that's how you play! So let's all have a nice, gentle game of Japanese badminton, just like that.
Honoka
No way, no way, no way!
Chika
There wasn't anything nice OR gentle about that!
