One and Only Girl's Day Ep. 4
Kanata
I was so surprised when I got your text.
Mari
Yeah. I almost had a heart attack, picturing all the costumes you wanted to make so the kids could pick out their own look.
Kasumi
I'm sorry, it was my idea to make last-minute changes! I just really, REALLY want to make these costumes happen!
Hanamaru
Don't sweat it, Kasumi. We know you're fixin' to change the costumes for a good reason, zura.
Mari
Exactly. Encouraging kids to express themselves is a terrific idea.
Kanata
Let's make this an event full of fun, freedom, and creativity.
Kasumi
Thanks so much, guys… I'll do my best! MORE than my best!
[Fade in/out.]
Mari
Hmm…so I cut this aqua and pink cloth to start, then…okay. So we're just making a bunch of robes right now.
Kotori
That's right. At the festival, the kids will match a few badges to one of these robes to complete the outfit.
Kanata
Oh, I see. So they'll combine a robe and some badges of their choosing based on their favorite color and design.
Hanayo
I'm still in awe of your skills, Kotori. You came up with new designs so fast.
Kotori
Skills? You give me too much credit! If it wasn't for Kasumi, I'd never have thought to give the kids the opportunity to pick out their own costumes.
Hanamaru
They say two heads are better than one, and it seems they were right, zura! All righty, time to get cracking on those costumes!
Kasumi
Y'know, I've always wondered… Why is the Girl's Day all about displaying little dolls?
Hanamaru
Well, people used to believe that a change of seasons invited evil spirits and bad luck. And the Girl's Day happens right between winter and spring.
Hanamaru
So, apparently, they started displaying dolls to ward off misfortune.
Hanamaru
That's one of the reasons why the Girl's Day is all about praying for girls to grow up beautiful and healthy.
Kanata
Wow, I had no idea. Now I want to pray for my sister's health. I suppose I'll pray as we sew.
Kasumi
In that case, I wanna get healthier and up my cute game!
Hanamaru
Well, in THAT case, I wanna be healthy and have more delicious food!
Mari
Wait, Hanamaru. You're sewing up the armhole.
Hanamaru
Oops! Thanks for the catch, Mari!
Hanamaru
Um…do I undo this, then sew this part together?
Hanamaru
Er…I don't know how to fix it. Grrr…I hadn't figured on robe-making being so hard, zura…
Hanayo
Just take this thread and…there! It's fixed now.
Hanamaru
Thanks, Hanayo… You saved my bacon, zura!
Kasumi
I'm stuck! My stitches are in all the wrong places. I don't know what I'm making, but it's not a robe!
Kotori
It'll be okay, Kasumi. Just remove the bad stitches and start sewing again from here. See? There. Now you're all good to go.
Kasumi
Whoa! Thanks for the help, Kotori.
Kasumi
All right, focus, Kasumi… No mistakes this time!
