Yes, me and my mom made it together this year.

The best New Year's meals are the ones you cook yourself. You did a great job.

I made this sweet shrimp omelet roll, the mashed sweet potato and chestnut, the seaweed-wrapped fish—oh, and the mochi!

You made the mochi?

Yes, this year I steamed the mochi rice myself. Then I tried my hand at pounding it into mochi.

You did all that?!

The mochi must taste fantastic if a rice fanatic like Hanayo made it.

Seriously. It's melt-in-your-mouth soft and so sweet. Guess that's how it tastes when it's freshly pounded.

I'm sure the spread turned out this wonderful because of the chef's obsession with rice.

*Sob* I'm a lucky girl. I get to eat a New Year's feast with so much effort and passion poured into it.
