Kotori Ep. 27: The World of Washi
Kotori tells you that she wants to become an even better version of herself by challenging new things this summer. In the library, the two of you happen across a leaflet that inspires you to make washi paper fans.

So this is where we'll be making paper fans. We're so lucky that we get to make them in such a wonderful place!
Kotori
Whoa! There's so much washi paper laid out. It's incredible how each sheet of paper is so vivid, too.
Player
Looks like we paste the washi paper onto the frame of the fan. We can also choose to tear up some paper to do chigiri-e, or dye our own.
Kotori
Okay, time to choose some washi paper. Hmm… They're all so cute, it's so hard to choose!
Player
This paper has a really lovely pattern that reminds me of a kimono. Oh, but there's also this more simple, handmade paper.
Kotori
I had no idea there were so many different types of washi. There's chintz, resist-dyed, and even something called cloud dragon…
Kotori
And the colors, too! There's so many different names for them.
Player
You got that right. You never usually hear about these colors, like dianthus pink or evergreen… It's fascinating.
Kotori
Even the same colors can look and feel completely different depending on the type of paper and texture. So cool!
Kotori
I had no idea all of this even existed…

Kotori?

I know I said I was interested in colors and washi paper, but I never really looked into it until now.
Kotori
That's why I feel like I've got to immerse myself in this fascinating world!
Player
I can imagine.

I sure hope so. Hehe! I feel way, way more motivated now!

Maybe I'll use this washi paper for the base of my fan. I really like this cherry blossom color and the transparent flower petals!

Look, look! I finished my fan. I did a chigiri-e of a goldfish and its bowl.

Oh, that's so cute! I tried dyeing my folded washi paper with some pigment.
Kotori
Wow! You can make a snowflake pattern like that? We're both making paper fans, but your personality really shines through depending on how you do it, doesn't it?
Kotori
I heard there's going to be a washi artisan Q＆A, so let's ask lots of questions before we leave!
