Hanamaru Ep. 7: Beseeching Author Kunikida
Shizuku appears to be troubled by something. Upon asking about her qualms, you find out exactly is going on.
Shizuku
*Sigh* What do I do?
Player
Is something the matter, Shizuku?
Shizuku
Well… There have been discussions in the theater club about putting on an original play, but I can't find anyone to write the script for it.
Player
Isn't there anyone in the theater club who can do it?
Shizuku
One of the older club members usually writes our scripts at times like this, but she's not well at the moment, so I can't ask her.
Shizuku
All of our other members say they can't write scripts, but I'm not that confident in my abilities either.
Player
I see. You can't start rehearsing the play or preparing the costumes if you don't know what the play is about to begin with.
Shizuku
That's right. That's why I need to quickly find someone to write the script. Do you happen to know anybody who might fit the bill?
Player
Hmm, let me think. Somebody who can write a script… Someone who can write stories…
Player
Oh! I know! Hanamaru!
Shizuku
Hanamaru? Are you referring to Hanamaru Kunikida of Aqours? Now that you mention it, she does write novels, doesn't she?
Player
Yup! I'm sure Hanamaru would be able to write a script as well.
Shizuku
I see! You're right, she would be the perfect… Oh wait, but we can't just go and decide things all on our own. We need to ask her first.
Player
You're right. You know what? I'll call and ask her for you tonight. If she agrees, then we can go meet with her!
[Fade in/out.]
Hanamaru
Hello, zura!
Player
Ah, hi, Hanamaru. Good evening.
[Fade in/out.]
Hanamaru
Evening! What's the matter?
Player
Sorry for the sudden call, but there's something I'd like to ask you about.
Player
Shizuku's currently looking for someone to write a script for the theater club. I was wondering if you'd be able to do it.
Hanamaru
A s-script?! Me?!
Player
Yup. I figure you'd be able to write one for sure. I mean, the story you submitted to the library anthology was really incredible!
Hanamaru
N-Novels and scripts are different mediums, zura.
Player
They are?
Hanamaru
They're written differently. Unlike in novels, descriptions of scenes and the emotions of characters aren't written in as much detail in theater scripts, zura.
Hanamaru
Um, for example… When describing a woman smiling with joy at home, you'd write something clean and concise like, “Scene: Home. Woman smiles with joy.”
Player
Oh, I see. I suppose you would write in more detail for novels, like about why she seems so happy. Maybe you'd even describe the look of her home.
Hanamaru
I've only ever written novels, and even then, I've only just started doing it recently… I don't think I'm the right person for this job.
Option 1: “I can't think of a better writer than you.” |
---|
Player I see. But, I'm sorry, I can't think of a better writer than you. I can put my full trust in your ability to come up with stories! Hanamaru Okay, zura. I mean, you called me because you believe in my abilities, after all. |
Option 2: “You're the only person I can ask.” |
Player I see. But you're the only person I can ask. We'll help you out as much as we can, so could you at least listen to our proposal? Hanamaru Okay. Shizuku is troubled too, after all. I don't know how much help I'll be, but I do want to find out more, zura. |
Player
Thank you so much, Hanamaru!
