Eli Ep. 30: Transitional Class
Eli is to begin a work experience program based on a request from the school idol fansite. She wants to feel more comfortable around kids, so she chooses to work at the children's center.
Eli
“Whoa! Do you think there's buried treasure?” “Let's all work together and pull on the rope! Three, two, one, tug!”
Eli
…I was thinking of reading the children an adventure book in that fashion. How does that sound?
Shioriko
I think that would be excellent.
Player
You're so good at reading aloud, Eli! I got so excited just listening to your voice.
Eli
Really? You aren't just trying to flatter me are you?
Option 1: “I felt like I'd entered the world of the story itself.” |
---|
Player I felt like I'd entered the world of the story itself. Have a little faith in yourself, Eli! Eli All right! If the children feel the same way, I'll be pleased. |
Option 2: “That wasn't flattery.” |
Player That wasn't flattery! I was just enjoying your delivery. Eli Thank you! Hearing you say that is so reassuring. |
Eli
I hear there are lots of five-year-olds and such who come to the transitional classes at the children's center. That's the age when they start to understand others' feelings.
Eli
This picture book shows the joy of working together, so I think it might be perfect for them.
Shioriko
What a good idea. I'm sure the children will love it too.
Player
I hope it'll be a fun transitional class for them, Eli.
Eli
Uh-huh. I'll do my best!
[Fade in/out.]
Eli
Hello, everyone! Welcome to today's transitional class. Let's have a wonderful time.
Eli
I've brought several picture books with me today. Which one looks best?
Shioriko
The children like the picture book she picked out. Eli has such a good sense of these things.
Player
Uh-huh. …But I do see a few kids who aren't into picture books.
Eli
You'd rather go play outside? Well, how about we play outside after we finish reading the picture book?
Eli
You don't like that either? Hmm, what a conundrum… Everyone has such different likes and dislikes. I guess I can't just read to everyone.
Player
Then why don't we split the class into two groups and you guys can each take one?
Shioriko
That's a good idea. I shall take these students outside to play, and you can read to the others.
Eli
Thank you, Shioriko. That's a big help.
Player
I can also step in if you need it.
Eli
Thank you. All right, time to read you all an adventure story. Could all the children who like stories group up, please?
[Fade in/out.]
Player
Great work, Eli and Shioriko! The kids seemed to have a really good time too.
Eli
Thank you both. I couldn't have done it without you.
Shioriko
It required us to deviate from our initial plans, but I'm glad we could let everyone have fun.
Eli
Uh-huh. But…playing with the kids isn't exactly easy, huh. I feel bad that things didn't go according to plan.
Eli
I'd like to revise my ideas for next time. Can I brainstorm with you two?
