Ayumu Ep. 22: Wanting to Protect and to Be Protected
Ayumu expressed her desire to grow stronger at her live show, and it was a huge success. Afterwards, she notices something as she reads the numerous fan letters she's received.

Mmm… I guess I'm still not there yet.
Player
Ayumu, thanks for waiting. What were you doing?
Ayumu
Oh, uh, I was reading some letters I got after our last live show.
Player
So…what's wrong, then?
Ayumu
What? Why do you ask?
Player
You were frowning a lot, so now I'm a little worried that someone wrote something that made you feel anxious.
Ayumu
You're worrying about me too?
Player
What? Y-Yeah…
Ayumu
Ahh! Why is everyone like that?
Ayumu
So in the letters, everyone wrote nice things and complimented me. There's nothing to worry about on that front.
Player
Right… So what's up?
Ayumu
They all wrote that my new song was really good. They said they're happy I've gained confidence and that now more than ever they want to protect me.
Ayumu
That's what's in those letters.
Ayumu
But I was trying to express through my song that I'm getting strong so no one needs to worry about me anymore. And yet they all saw me as in need of support…
Ayumu
I guess I'm still not quite there yet.
Player
Hey, Ayumu… When you want to protect someone, I don't think those feelings go away no matter how strong that person gets or even once they become an adult.
Player
I mean, we all want to protect our loved ones, right?
Player
I'm positive you expressed your feelings to your fans, and I think they see that and still want to protect you even more.
Ayumu
Do you…really think so?
Player
I do. Even the strongest people feel sad or struggle sometimes. And when you learn about it, what do you do? You don't think, “They're strong, they can handle it,” do you?
Ayumu
No, I don't. I want to be at their side, rubbing their back encouragingly, even if I can't be of much help to them.
Player
Right? The people who wrote you those letters feel the exact same way.
Ayumu
I see… I think I understand now.
Ayumu
What about you, then?
Player
Of course it's the same for me! Ayumu, no matter how much you grow and how amazing of a school idol you become, I'm always going to want to protect you.
Ayumu
*Giggle* Wow, I suddenly feel super happy. I'm so easy to please.
