You float in the water, so you're lighter than on land, but the water also lowers your body temp. You burn more energy swimming because your body's trying to warm itself up.

I see. I've heard swimming is a great way to lose weight, now I get why.

I panicked for a second there when I lost my balance, but cutting through the wind like that at top speed felt fantastic.

Yeah, and squinting through the ocean spray while whooshing over the waves was such a rush! I wish I could do it again.
