Umi #125: The Mountain-Loving Ocean-Blue Beauty
Umi
*Chuckle* That was a productive shopping trip. I can't wait to get home and enjoy all my new things!
Kanata
Oh, it's Umi. Hey there!
Umi
Kanata! It's been a while. I don't think we've seen each other since we went hiking.
Kanata
You're right. You look like you're in a good mood, Umi. What's up?
Umi
Oh, I just bought some new books. I'm so eager to read them, I guess it shows on my face.
Kanata
Books, huh? Knowing you, I'm guessing they're either reference books or training regimens?
Umi
I'm afraid it's neither, actually! I bought these.
Kanata
Let's see… “The Secrets of Mountain Climbing,” “Hiking Hotspots,” “Beginner's Guide to Trekking”…
Umi
This one's the journal of a famous mountain climber. As soon as I started reading it at the store, I was sucked in. I knew I had to buy it!
Kanata
Wow, Umi. I probably don't even need to ask, but you're planning a second hike, aren't you?
Umi
Of course I am! I know we put off discussing going on a regular basis, but I expect it will be easy to get everyone together for a one-off hike like last time.
Umi
I'd love to enjoy the mountainside with you all again!
Kanata
You really like the mountains, huh? What is it about them you enjoy so much?
Umi
As I said the last time we talked about hiking, the mountainside is full of things you can't experience otherwise.
Umi
Without the conveniences of civilization, all one can rely on is her own knowledge and experience. Nature shows no mercy to people like us who are used to modern living.
Umi
As we struggle through dense woods and sheer cliffs, confronting the painful reality of our limits, we see how much room we have to grow! Mountains are a mirror to the soul!
Umi
That's why I intend to continue hiking. I want to stare my limits in the face and overcome them!
Kanata
N-Neat. Well, uhh, good luck on your journey of self-improvement.
Umi
Kanata, you should try doing some soul-searching, too. I'll be waiting for you to get back to me about those regular hikes!
Kanata
Yeah, sure. I'll totally think about it.
