Emma #259: The Rain After School
Player
It's been a long while since it's just been the two of us walking home, hasn't it, Emma?
Emma
Yeah, it has. Usually everyone else is here.
Player
Hey, why don't we stop somewhere on the way? How do crepes sound?
Emma
Oh, that sounds great!
Emma
Hm? Oh, I think it's starting to rain.
Player
It is! And I don't have my umbrella! Oh geez, what should we do? You wanna go back to the clubroom?
Emma
Yeah, what SHOULD we do?
Player
I don't think we have time to wonder at this point!
Emma
I think we should head back for now. Make a run for it!
Player
You got it!
[Fade in/out.]
Emma
Oh, I'm totally soaked…
Player
Yeah, me too. I'll use a towel to dry your hair for you. Hold still for a sec.
Emma
Okay. Thank you.
Player
*Pat, pat, pat*
Emma
That feels nice. This reminds me of the time my mom did this to me when I was growing up.
Player
Well, you're always taking care of us. Today, I get to take care of you.
Emma
Wow, what a special occasion! Maybe today won't be so bad after all.
[Fade in/out.]
Emma
!!!
Emma
What was that?
Player
Was that thunder?
[Fade in/out.]
Player
Eek! It's a blackout! I need a flashlight! A candle! No, my cell phone! Where's my cell phone?!
Emma
It's okay! Just calm down. *Squeeze*
Player
Oh!
Emma
Nature is so much stronger than any of us could ever hope to be. In times like this, there's no need to panic. No need to scream. We just have to stay calm where we are.
Player
Right… Yeah, that's right! Man, I can't believe I made such a big scene…
Emma
You're fine. I'll give you some head pats if it'll make you feel better.
Option 1: “Aren't you scared too, Emma?” |
---|
Player Aren't you scared of thunder too, Emma? Emma Not at all. See, because the skies, the mountains, lightning, thunder and all of that nature is always by our side. |
Option 2: “Y-You wanna let go of me sometime?” |
Player Er, um, Emma… You wanna let go of me sometime? It's just kind of embarrassing. Emma Oh, I'm so sorry! I wasn't even thinking! |
Emma
*Giggle*
Player
What is it, Emma?
Emma
I dunno, it's just a little funny. Someday, somewhere, we might remember how the two of us sat here staring up at the sky.
Emma
It just makes me think that even this time we spend doing nothing is important too.
