Dia #51: A President's Worries
Dia
Hmm.
Mari
Excuse me!
Mari
Ah, there you are, Dia!
Dia
Mari, at least speak up properly when you're entering a room.
Mari
Not sweating the small stuff's the key to a stress-free life!
Dia
Not being overly sensitive and not knowing common manners are completely different matters.
Mari
Always got an answer, Dia!
Mari
But what are you frowning about? Something on your mind?
Dia
You're the one who always has an answer, Mari.
Dia
But that aside. I was thinking of my opening address at tomorrow's motivational rally.
Dia
What would be the right words to encourage the students competing in the tournament in the school's name?
Dia
I've been thinking over it for the past week, but cannot think of anything I am particularly attached to.
Mari
The motivational rally?
Mari
Oh yeah, there was one of those planned! And you're the student council president, so you've got to give a speech there, huh?
Dia
So, you'd forgotten.
Dia
Listen. I am not the only one giving a speech, Chairwoman.
Mari
Uwah?
Mari
O-Oh, right, I was supposed to give a speech, too, right? I'd totally forgotten!
Dia
I knew it! And why do you sound so flippant about this?! It's tomorrow!
Mari
Don't worry, I just need to come up with something by the time the rally starts. No problem!
Dia
By the time it starts? You aren't planning on just making it up as you go along when it's time to give your speech, are you?
Mari
Instead of some perfectly arranged speech, I want to let everyone hear the feelings I experience in the moment.
Mari
Even if they're awkward, they'll be my genuine, true words.
Dia
Mari.
Dia
For some reason, that feels like nothing but an excuse about how you forgot to prepare for your speech at the rally.
Mari
Ahah, you can tell? That's our president!
Dia
Marrrriiiiiii!
Dia
You're thinking up your speech with me right now!
