Ch. 49 Ep. 8: The Club's Music Chat
After you give Ai the chord progression data, Ai says she wants to learn more about music. Is she going to attempt to compose a song too?
Kasumi
Hey guys, look. Whatcha think about my body language? Look, look!
Kanata
Are you trying to be a ninja sneaking through a hidden door in some trick house?
Setsuna
Is that not a high-speed stab for justice?
Kasumi
You both are way off the mark! How come you guys aren't guessing anything cuter?!
Player
It looked to me like you were asking for something.
Kasumi
Got it in one! See, I always knew you knew me best.
Mia
I'm impressed that you could tell.
Karin
That's because we can't hide anything from our good ol' club prez. She can see through us all.
Mia
I mean, it's not like I have anything to hide either.
Ai
Heya! Oh, the whole gang's here already.
Player
Hey there, Ai.
Ayumu
You're not usually the last one here.
Shizuku
Did you come from a run?
Ai
Nah, actually, there's something I've been trying my hand at recently.
Ai
I tried coming up with a song, and I want you guys to hear it.
Karin
You wrote a song?!
Kanata
You know how to write music?
Ai
Ha ha, I might be overexaggerating a little. I just hummed a tune that I came up with.
Ayumu
That still counts. That's amazing!
Ayumu
Oh… Was this because you had a class in the music department the other day?
Ai
Yup, that's what sparked this.
Ai
I don't think recording humming can be classified as composition or a melody or whatever, but I thought it'd be worth giving it a shot with the prez and Mia around.
Ai
Plus, it sounded fun to write a song to convey my own feelings by myself.
Rina
Yeah. That does sound fun.
Shioriko
I'd be interested in trying that as well.
Player
Do you guys all want to give it a shot? Sure, it might be hard to compose a song right off the bat, but we could start by copying your favorite pieces of music and all.
Mia
Yeah, that'd probably be the best jumping-off point. We all love music, right?
Kasumi
What about you, Miako? What sort of songs have you made so far? What kind of music do you really like?
Mia
I grew up listening to the Taylor family music, so music is in my blood.
Mia
And in terms of my interests, I guess I'm a fan of the country music my sister sings. What about you guys?
Shizuku
I prefer music that paints a picture in my mind's eye. I'm a big fan of movie and musical soundtracks.
Rina
I listen to game OSTs a lot.
Ayumu
I like the songs they often play in TV shows or commercials. Oh, and I also like that one song I heard in a shop the other day. The one I asked you about, remember?
Player
Ha ha ha. Yeah, the one I guessed after you hummed it for me.
Player
I guess that means you like J-pop.
Ayumu
Okay. I trust your judgment.
Karin
I think I'm a fan of dance music. Music that matches the dancing thrills me.
Kasumi
I love cute songs!
Mia
What makes a song be cute?
Kasumi
Like sha la la la TA-DA! Something that makes you feel like you've turned into a pretty princess!
Ai
I guess I'm with Ayumu here. Back when I was a kid, I used to dance along to the music on TV.
Ai
Oh, and I love song parodies!
Lanzhu
I love school idol music!
Lanzhu
But if we're talking about the music we listened to when we were kids, then that would have to be opera and classical, I suppose.
Shioriko
Like Mia said, the music one's family listens to becomes a part of your blood.
Shioriko
In my case, my family often listened to classic pop, so I became most familiar with that.
Emma
In that case, I guess I like nursery rhymes. They're so fun to sing with my family.
Emma
What about you, Kanata?
Kanata
Calming music, of course. There's nothing like falling asleep to one of Emma's lullabies.
Kanata
But when I'm studying, I like to listen to music that makes me feel focused.
Player
Ha ha ha! Sounds like we have pretty diverse music tastes.
Ayumu
Do you really think so? I think all our tastes have something in common.
Player
Hm?
Kanata
Yeah, that's true.
Karin
I think we can all say that your music is our all-time favorite. Right, girls?
Lanzhu
Yeah! I love your music.
Player
Thanks. Wow, I feel kind of embarrassed.
