Ch. 2 Ep. 9: More Than One Option
You realize your mistake. The dancing and singing don't reflect Nijigasaki. You can see how your idea put everyone in a tough spot. What makes Nijigasaki what it is, is everyone's unique individuality!
Player
Everyone! I'm sorry! I was wrong!
Ayumu
Huh? What's wrong?
Kasumi
I'm confused.
Player
I said that you should enter the next competition as a group, but I take it all back. I think you should all enter as solo acts instead!
Everyone
What?!
Karin
Does that mean our performance couldn't live up to your ideals?
Setsuna
Don't give up on us! We're still in the middle of practicing. I think that with a bit more time, we'll be able to reach the level you expect of us!
Shizuku
We can do it! Please, let us try!
Player
No, it's not your fault. I'm the one who was wrong!
Ai
Wrong about what?
Player
Remember when I was describing μ's and Aqours' appeal?
Emma
You told us how clean and synchronized their movements were. Are we not good enough yet?
Player
No, that's not it. At the time, I thought I was telling you to do the right thing. But after watching you all practice, I realized I was wrong.
Rina
Wrong about us?
Ayumu
I-It's true that there were parts we were struggling with.
Kanata
We'll try harder. Please give us a chance.
Player
No, no. I mean, even though it's your performance, I felt like it was all about what I wanted.
Player
The stage belongs to you. You should do what you think is best and have fun doing it. Then, the people watching will be able to have fun too.
Player
I'm so grateful that you tried to recreate the performance that captured my heart for me.
Player
Even though all I can do for you is cheer from the sidelines.
Player
You have your own distinct personalities. The things you like and the things you want to do are different too. I think you're at your best when you're pursuing those things.
Player
Kasumi, you can make all of your cute poses. And Karin, you can take advantage of your long limbs for sexy dances. You're at your best when you're showing off your individuality.
Kanata
Um… What's cute about me?
Player
You always seem like you're in a dreamlike state, but once you're up on stage, you're suddenly full of energy. It makes me want to jump around too.
Shizuku
What about me?
Player
It can bring me to tears when I see you express the world of the lyrics through your theatrical choreography.
Player
Rina looks happy using her Rina-chan Board to connect to her audience. I said this before too, but because her enjoyment really comes through, it makes me want to support her even more.
Player
Ayumu is very precise with her singing and dancing. The way she treats each performance carefully makes me want to burn it into my memory.
Player
Ai can get the whole audience fired up and feeds off of their energy. When I see that elated smile of hers, I can't help but smile too.
Player
Setsuna can make the audience hers in an instant. When she's singing, I can't focus on anything other than her.
Player
When Emma sings, I feel like I'm being wrapped in a warm blanket. I feel relieved, and I want to sing along with her.
Player
I'm not saying you're not capable of putting on a great group performance. But right now, it seems too restrictive.
Player
I think what's perfect for all of you is putting on a performance that really shows off your personalities.
Player
That's why…
Setsuna
Thank you for being so considerate of us.
Kanata
We don't feel like we're being forced to do this or anything.
Emma
That's right. We just wanted to make you happy. But if it came off as constrained to you, that just goes to show how insightful you are.
Kasumi
It's true that there were things that I wanted to do differently.
Ai
There's one thing you said that was unforgivable!
Ai
You said, “All I can do for you is cheer from the sidelines.” But let me correct you on behalf of the others, you're doing a whole lot more than just cheering us on!
Shizuku
That's right! We're able to work this hard because you're always watching over us!
Karin
For sure! You're our friend who helps us create our performances. I don't want you to put yourself down like that.
Player
You guys!
Rina
We'll enter the competition solo. But we'll keep practicing together.
Ayumu
Even though we won't be standing on stage together, our hearts are always one.
[Fade in/out.]
Kasumi
Hey, come look at the video. Isn't Emma giving off a more mature vibe than usual?
Player
Let me see. Oh, you're right. Something's different.
Emma
*Giggle* Not bad, right? Karin gave me some advice during the group lessons.
Karin
Oh, watch my video too. Emma taught me how to turn more gracefully.
Shizuku
You know, I think the group lessons were necessary in the end.
Ai
That's right. We're definitely better off doing solo acts, but there are a lot of other things we learned from each other while we were in a group.
Rina
It's good that you recommended a group performance. I learned many things.
Player
But those results were a coincidence. All I did was shorten the amount of time you had for solo practice.
Ayumu
That's not true. You're really amazing. You helped us notice things about ourselves that we wouldn't have noticed on our own.
Ayumu
We promised to continue supporting each other at practice. Because of our group lessons, we learned the importance of hearing each other's ideas.
Player
Really? I'm glad to hear that then.
Kasumi
We've really leveled up! The victory stand will be all ours!
Shizuku
Kasumi, have you ever heard the phrase “Don't count your chickens before they've hatched”?
Kasumi
What is that? Counting chickens? To help you sleep?
Player
Kasumi, let's work on your studies too.
