Ta-da! I brought a kit to make our own decorative shrine rope wreaths, since I thought it might be nice to make custom cute versions!

Oh, I recognize these! They're the kind that you can make yourself to decorate with bows and dried flowers!

Yes! I found it earlier on a trip out and bought it, thinking that it might be fun to make them with everyone.

The photos of the ropes on the packaging look so cool, all decorated with flowers like that.

There are so many different styles. This butterfly-style knot is really adorable.

And there are even lots of cute colors for the ropes themselves, like pink and navy blue. I like the modern Japanese designs they have too.

So, you can make those decorative ropes by hand? I want to give it a go for myself!

Yeah! Decorating the wreaths with ears of rice is a way to wish for a great harvest in the coming year.

It can also express hope that the new year will help lots of foodstuffs grow!

That's why I wove lots of ears of rice into my ropes. I'm hoping that I can eat a lot of tasty rice again this year!
