Kindergarten Live Show! Ep. 5
Umi
We have all been thinking about what to do for a live show based on Children's Day, but it felt as if something was lacking with just that one theme.
Umi
This was because we lost sight of what we need to focus our attention on for this live show.
Umi
Namely, how we can set Rina off to absolute perfection.
Umi
In other words, Rina is the red bean paste of this oak-leaf mochi. The Children's Day theme and everything that goes with the performance is the mochi wrapped around it.
Umi
It's only by combining the very best red bean paste and mochi that we'll make the best oak-leaf mochi ever!
Kanan
Red bean paste and mochi…
Mari
I kinda feel like I both get it and don't get it at the same time…
Eli
What Umi's trying to say is that we've ended up missing the forest for the trees.
Umi
Exactly. We should have been thinking about why Rina's live stream was so popular with children.
Umi
If we thoroughly analyze and understand why that is, the answer we're looking for should come to us naturally.
Kanan
I see. But what do you think was the reason?
Rina
Hmm, well… Maybe it's my Rina-chan Board?
Eli
Your Rina-chan Board?
Rina
Yeah. I got a lot of comments about my Board during the live stream. So many kids said they wanted to wear one themselves.
Ayumu
Really? Then why don't we try giving them what they want?
Kanan
I like the sound of that! We can hand them out to everyone who comes to our live show if we draw them up on some paper!
Mari
They could even wear them on their heads if we attach them to your origami helmets, Kanan!
Umi
That's an excellent combination. What do you think, Rina?
Rina
I think it's a great idea. I bet all the kids will love it! Rina-chan Board says, “Woo-hoo!”
Eli
Then that settles it. Let's get right into making everything!
Mari
Okay! Is there any trick you use when drawing faces on the Board?
Rina
I do have one tip. You should draw how you genuinely think and feel.
Mari
That makes sense. So if I draw this like this, and then like this… There! I think I nailed it!
Mari
Ta-daaaaa! The shock of eating natto for the first time! Mari-chan Board says, “Amazingly ooey-gooey!”
Kanan
I suppose that IS a genuine emotion of yours!
Eli
Isn't it fairly difficult to grasp that particular emotion from your drawing?
Mari
Hmph. Well, if you're going to judge, why don't you try drawing something then?
Eli
Fine.
Eli
I'll just draw it like this, and then like that, and… H-Huh?
Ayumu
Eli, what's that?
Eli
Uh, the shock of eating pickled plum for the first time.
Mari
How is that any different from what I drew?!
Eli
Look, I, um… I got influenced by your drawing, Mari!
