You Ep. 27: Mountains with You
When You says she wants to try a different kind of training, you propose a mountain walk. The two of you swiftly make your way up the mountain trail beneath the blue skies.
You
It's so dazzling how the sunlight filters through the trees. Thank goodness it's sunny today. I've been checking the weather forecast every day.
Player
Me too. I was a little worried it might be too hot, but the shade from the trees is keeping it cool, making it nice for a walk.
You
Yeah. With these conditions, I feel like I could climb up anywhere!
Player
Just remember, no running, okay?
You
I know, I know. Oh, there's some mushrooms growing there!
Player
Hey, you're right! I wonder what kind of mushrooms they are.
You
They're kinda cute, right? Hey, do you want to try one? We'll play rock, paper, scissors. Whoever loses eats one.
Player
A-Absolutely not! They could be poisonous mushrooms for all we know!
You
*Laugh* I'm just messing with you. Let's take a photo of them to show everyone later.
Player
Honestly, don't scare me like that. Maybe it would've been a good idea to bring a field guide. Although, I did remember to bring a first-aid kit and emergency rations.
You
Those are definitely important to remember. If you need a field guide, you can download an app for it onto your phone.
Player
But that's no good if your phone goes out of range. There's no signal deep in the mountains, but there will be fog, bears, wasps… I'm getting the shivers now!
You
Calm down. It's not like we're going THAT far up the mountain today!

I was just thinking that it isn't every day I get to see you up in the mountains.
You
Is there something odd about me being in the mountains?
Player
That's not it. It's just that I'm more used to seeing you at the beach, or pool, or somewhere with water. Like the aquarium, too.
Player
That's why seeing you frolicking around surrounded by all this greenery is really new.
You
It is true that I like swimming, but this isn't the first time I've been mountain-climbing, you know.
Player
Do you do it often?
You
Not too often, but I love mountains! It's got a different sort of natural charm compared to the beach.
You
Numazu is famous for its pretty beaches and yummy seafood, but a lot of climbers also love our mountains. They even have cherry blossom and firework viewing spots too.
Player
There are mountains in Numazu too?! There's so much charm to that place that I'm not even aware of yet.
You
You've got that right. And I'm more than happy to continue telling you about all the lovely things Numazu has to offer.
