Ruby Ep. 29: The Charms of Online Videos
You and Ruby become so absorbed in school idol videos that you completely lose track of time. As you head home, the two of you enjoy a conversation about the different kinds of videos available online.
Player
Look how late it is!
Ruby
I'm sorry, it's because I was watching videos…
Player
I was watching them right here with you. It's not your fault. To be honest, I wish we could've watched a few more, haha.
Ruby
Me too! I could keep watching school idol videos forever and ever!
Option 1: “Wanna have a video-viewing sleepover?” |
---|
Player *Giggle* Let's have a school idol video-viewing sleepover or something soon. How about it? Ruby That sounds fun! I'd love to do that! |
Option 2: “There just isn't enough time.” |
Player Time really does fly when you're having fun, huh. Plus, there are so many uploads… There just isn't enough time to watch them all after school. Ruby A lot of other social media platforms have more clips that aren't on video sites too. I bet there's no way to watch them all, even if you had an entire day free. |

Player
Did any of the school idols from the videos we watched today catch your attention, Ruby?
Ruby
A bunch of them did! They were all so marvelous!
Ruby
I've seen dance challenge videos, alternate versions of promo videos being made, videos of people happily humming away that might've been them coming up with a new song…
Player
Even in such a short time, we saw so many interesting videos full of charm, huh.
Ruby
Oh, and when I found out that some school idols who I've loved for a long time are now on social media, it made me sooo happy!
Player
Yeah, it doesn't look like they've had an account for that long yet, but they've got a huge number of followers.
Ruby
Of course! They're a wonderful group. I'm sure they'll get more and more followers from here on out. They'll put up videos and photos and have it all spread from there…
Ruby
It's quite mind-blowing to think about how people on the other side of the world might be able to see their efforts. The internet is so amazing.
[Fade in/out.]
Player
How about you, Ruby? Won't you try uploading videos and such?
Ruby
Who, me?
Player
I know Aqours' promo videos and live shows have been posted on video sites a few times, but why don't you personally try posting something online, Ruby?
Ruby
Wh-What?! There's no way. A video of me alone would be way too boring!
Player
Aw, that's not true! I'd watch them! I'd check to see if you posted something new every day… Heck, every minute!
Ruby
L-Liar.
Player
I'm not lying! Promo videos are great, but I think videos like the slice-of-life-ish ones you see on social media are also good.
Player
Besides, the videos that get posted are all really short, aren't they? It'd be so cool if you could give a short, snappy performance. You'd definitely get more fans with them!
Ruby
A short, snappy performance? I wouldn't mind trying that…
Player
Really?! So you're interested now?!
Ruby
Eek! B-But I'm not at all confident enough!
Ruby
Those dance videos that get posted online are really short but full of different moves, right? Even with the dances I normally do, I make so many mistakes…
Player
You only post the videos after you nail the dance moves, of course. Oh, but showing people your mistakes is also a good way to endear them to you too…
Ruby
No way! I'll never do that, it's way too embarrassing!
