Nozomi Ep. 31: Study Date

Nozomi starts her work-study at Mito Sea, but has so much trouble with the work that You has to bail her out. Knowing things can't continue like this, Nozomi comes to you for help.

Player

I can't believe the Mito Sea people were so happy to let us in on a day they were closed just because we wanted to study the exhibits.

Nozomi

I'm so glad you could come with me! Thanks a bunch! I can't get over how quiet Mito Sea is with no one else here…

Nozomi

But the staff are still taking care of everything. Whether it's cleaning the tanks or feeding the animals, they don't actually have the day off.

Player

For sure. There's lots of work that needs to be done even in places where you don't normally see.

Nozomi

Yup yup, they're the unsung heroes of Mito Sea! The staff here are all so cool!

Player

Unsung heroes…

Option 1: “Kinda like you, Nozomi.”

Player

Quietly supporting everyone in ways they never notice. That's kinda like you, Nozomi.

Nozomi

*Snicker* You think? I wouldn't say I'm all that special.

Option 2: “I'm glad we got the chance to see for ourselves.”

Player

It's great that we got the chance to see the work that gets done behind the scenes for ourselves.

Nozomi

Definitely. In fact, we should probably try a little harder to notice it.

Nozomi

But–

Player

Hmm?

Nozomi

Walking around checking out the exhibits together, just the two of us… Kinda feels like a date, doesn't it?

Player

Huh?! Y-You can't just say that outta the blue–

Nozomi

Ah ha ha, I'm just messing with you! We came here to study after all.

[Fade in/out.]

Nozomi

Huh? Wait a sec…

Player

One of the exhibits catch your eye, Nozomi?

Nozomi

These are all the same species of fish aren't they? Look how the colors are pale on some and vivid on the others. I think the patterns on their scales vary a little, too.

Player

Now that you mention it, I see it too! Do they have a poster or something that explains why?

Player

Lemme see… The variations can be due to diet, the depth of the water, or even how they're feeling at the moment.

Nozomi

Wow, that's amazing! I never even thought of that.

Nozomi

The fish are all unique individuals just like us people are. We have to show each one the same respect and take care of them all.

Player

Yeah! Gosh, you sure do learn a lot when you take the time to really look carefully at the displays!

Nozomi

I just wanted to read the explanation closely. What else? Suruga Bay has a depth of 2,500 meters at its deepest point… That's why there are so many different types of fish.

Nozomi

Someone asked me again today why we see so many different species of fish, and I didn't have an answer…

Player

I see. So that's why felt you had to look at everything so thoroughly.

Nozomi

Yup! I want our visitors going home having learned as much as possible. And to do that I need to be as knowledgeable as I can!

Nozomi

Plus I wanna be more capable so I can show off to you and You!

Player

Nozomi… I'll work really hard to learn everything I can too. I'll take lots of notes so we remember all our new discoveries from today!

Nozomi

Thank you! Having you with me is a huge help. Let's do our best together!
