Nico Ep. 31: Nico's Recommendation!
Nico goes to work at a library with Hanamaru and comes to feel the gravity and profundity of lending books. She grows increasingly absorbed in the library, and is eventually asked to recommend a book.
Nico
You'd like us to recommend books?
Player
Yeah! the librarian told me to get your suggestions. We're gonna make a big display on the wall over there!
Hanamaru
Ooh, that's so neat, zura! I'm gonna have a hard time picking, though…
Player
It'd be best for them to be books you really like, or ones you think lots of people should read. Anything come to mind?
Nico
I really loved this one essay titled “Meals for Today's Weather.” It had the most amazing pictures of the sky coupled with lots of delicious recipes!
Nico
That book taught me that no matter how nasty the weather gets outside, a hearty meal always leaves your heart feeling sunny and happy!
Player
Sounds like a book that'd really perk people up! Do you have any books you especially like, Hanamaru?
Hanamaru
I guess I'd pick a book called “Footprints of a Novel.” It's the kinda book that helps when something bad happens and you just wanna curl up in the library and read, zura.
Nico
Sounds interesting and all, but shouldn't we try to introduce people to books that are a little more cheerful?
Hanamaru
You need books like that for when you wanna unwind. That novel in particular really makes you feel how great books are! It's the best, zura!
Nico
Hmm. Maybe that would be compelling after all. I'm even starting to think I should read it myself if you have such high praise for it, Hanamaru.

People's book preferences are as unique as the people themselves. Plus you can be in the mood for different books depending on the day, or even the weather.
Nico
In other words the library's called upon Nico and her crew to produce a system that introduces people to new book experiences! What a brilliant concept!
Player

Hanamaru
I wrote a nice introduction, zura! And then I'll glue the posters you two made here… How's that?
Nico
Not good enough! It doesn't stand out at all. We need more glitz! More bling! More pizazz!
Player
Really? I think it looks pretty good, personally.
Nico
We want a display that's so eye-catching people can't help but stop and look at it. That's our ultimate goal here, remember?
Player

Hmm… Since this is a book display at heart, what if we cut out paper to make mock pages and put it together like an actual book, so you could leaf through the pages?
Hanamaru
Wow! That sounds so cool, zura!
Player
Having a giant book up on the wall will definitely make people wanna flip through it and see what's inside!
Nico
Right? We're representing the library with our recommendations so we've gotta attract lots of people!
Nico
This way we're guaranteed to stop people in their tracks! Let's make a world-class library display that everyone's gonna want to check out!
