Maki Ep. 27: Here, of All Places?!
You try offering Maki your help when she expresses interest in challenging herself to try something new outside of her piano class, but she declines. You have no choice but to head home alone.

Hmm… Maki did tell me not to follow her.
Player
Still, no point fretting about it! I've got time, so maybe I could go home and make a snack.
[Fade in/out.]
Player
Let's see now, where do I find pancake ingredients… Oh!
Maki
It's— It's you!
Player
Maki?!
Maki
Did you follow me?! I thought I told you not to do that!
Player
N-No, I swear! Let me explain! I only came here to look for pancake ingredients.
Maki
…You sure? You're not up to anything suspicious?
Player
Me? Suspicious?! Of course not!
Maki
*Sigh* Of all the things that could've happened…
Maki
Still, I guess it was only a matter of time before you found out anyway.
Player
Found what out?
Maki
When I said I wanted to try something new, I was talking about cooking. I don't cook much at all, so I'm not very good at it.
Player
Is that all? You could have just told me.
Maki
But it's so embarrassing not being able to cook… It must sound so overblown to you, right? The very idea of having to push yourself just to cook something.

I'm thinking I'll gradually make more time for cooking practice from now on.

I probably won't improve much, though, since I've never put in the time before now.
Player
Oh, that's not true! A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, right? I'm sure that you'll be a great cook someday!
Maki
*Giggle* Good point. I'll do my best.
Player
You know, Maki, I want to get better at cooking too. Do you mind if we do it together?
Maki
Huh? I mean, of course I don't, but… Promise not to laugh at my lousy cooking?
Player
I won't, I promise. Have you decided what you're going to cook?
Maki
I've got the recipe and the shopping list ready to go.
Player
Great! Then let's go shopping. You've got this, Maki!
Maki
