Maki Ep. 24: The First Step
Looking for something she could do by herself, Maki decides to hold a piano trial class event. She starts her journey down a path she could never have taken alone.
Rin
Maki, for your trial piano lesson… Is it okay for people like me who don't know anything about piano to join in?
Maki
Yes. I want it to be a place where anyone can take part, from little kids to adults. I made worksheets for all ages and skill levels.
Hanayo
You did what?! You made these? It's like a real piano class!
Rin
Your thumb is number one, and your index finger is number two… The finger number is written on the sheet music, so even I can do this!
Maki
Really? That's good. If that one is too difficult, I have another one that's easier.
Maki
Rather than memorizing difficult melodies, I want people to experience the piano first and really learn the joy of making music.
Player
The joy of making music, huh? I think that's a great idea!
Hanayo
Yeah! It's hard to take the first step. When someone like you puts it so nicely, it gives people courage.
Maki
I want to get some advice from you and Rin today before the trial lesson begins. Do you mind?
Hanayo
Not at all!
Rin

Maki
Yeah, me too. I'm going to make some changes to the materials to make them even easier to use.
Maki
Oh, and thank you for your help. Having your piano expertise has been very reassuring.
Maki
I've…had some very good luck, I think.
Maki
You just happened to like school idols, and luckily I happened to be one—so you helped me out.
Player
Huh?! Luckily…?

Even if you wanted to be a baseball player and not a school idol, I'd still cheer you on!
Maki
Huh?! You sure say some weird things. Geez…
Player
*Giggle* You say that, and yet you look quite pleased.
Maki
Well…obviously.
Maki
Saying you're my fan and that you want to support me… Those words make me feel happy like nothing else.
Maki
…Agh, I can't handle this conversation anymore!
Maki
I dunno if it was fate for us to meet, but… I'm really glad you're here. Let's give it our all in the trial lesson.
