Maki Ep. 17: The Emotion behind a Cheer
Maki wants to study school idols in more depth. Mari and Ai come along to assist her in her studies.
Mari
Maki! How are your school idol studies going?
Maki
Mari! Ai! What are you guys doing here?!
Ai
We came to help you out when we heard you were studying school idols!
Player
I asked them to come.
Mari
It's not like it's a problem for us! But hey, Maki, you love school idols too, right?
Maki
Um… Well, I guess they're okay?
Ai
C'mon, Maki! That's where you're supposed to vigorously agree!
Maki
B-But I've never really given the idea all that much thought…
Player
Really?!
Maki
Do all of you love school idols, then?
Maki
I know that there's girls that really love them, like Hanayo and Ruby, but…
Ai
Yeah, I totally love them! Though obviously I'm not as much of an expert as those two.
Ai
I really get into cheering on girls who are doing their best!
Mari
Yes! I feel the same way. School idols make me feel like I wanna cheer them on and support them!
Maki
Right. Even I can appreciate feelings like that.
Player
School idols all work really, really hard to put on their live shows. I can't help but cheer them on!
Maki
Hey, so why do you cheer me on? If I were to ever stop working hard, how would you react?
Player
Umm…
Option 1: “You would never stop working hard.” |
---|
Player You would never stop working hard. I can't even imagine you any other way. Maki *Chuckle* True. It wouldn't be very like me to give up! |
Option 2: “I'd inspire you to work harder!” |
Player If you ever looked like you were about to give up, or if you were really tired, that'd just make me cheer you on harder! So you could work harder! Maki *Chuckle* That's some enthusiasm. Then I'd better keep working hard, huh? |
Player
We want to cheer you school idols on because you work hard, and I feel like cheering you on gives us courage in return.
Maki
I see. I want to cheer for hardworking school idols too, and be someone worth cheering for myself.
Ai
Great! Now take those heartfelt feelings and apply them to your study of school idols!
Mari
Oh yeah, I have a present for you. Here you go, Maki!
Maki
What is this? A white paper fan?
Ai
Don't you know what this is, Maki? You're supposed to decorate your own fan to cheer on your favorite school idols.
Ai
You should find a school idol you wanna support and cheer them on with us!
Maki
What the… I don't know why you need a paper fan to cheer for someone.
Mari
Well, think of it like this—if this fan were meant to show support for you, I'd write “I love you, Maki!” on it. It's a lovely idea, isn't it?
Mari
A fan with a message written on it helps you convey your feelings to your favorite school idol. Isn't that wonderful?
Maki
What?! No way, that's so embarrassing!
Maki
Cheering on school idols is really tough!
