Emma Ep. 11: Connect Through Song
You go with Emma to the roadside stage where she always sings. She's singing alone as usual, but then, a boy starts to sing along.
Player
(So this is where the Akihabara streetside stage Emma always sings on is… It's a pretty busy street, though.)
Player
Here, Emma. Drink this. It's good for your throat. Let's take a short break.
Emma
Thank you. I love this drink you make. After our break, I'll get back up there!
Player
Hey… Why don't we go somewhere else?
Emma
Oh? Does it bother you that not many people are listening here? *Giggle* Compared to Switzerland, there are more than enough people listening.
Player
But… Oh, we should have written more songs for you! You don't have a lot, so you end up singing mostly children's songs.
Emma
Huh? I'm just singing children's songs because I like them. Besides, it's not about the songs.
Emma
Any song has the power to draw people in. I just don't have the strength to help them do that yet.
Emma
I mean, of course I wish more people listened to my singing, but there's no point in trying to rush it. Like Ayumu says, I need to take it one step at a time.
Emma
Still, at this rate, I'm not sure if we can grab that kid's attention next time.
Emma
No… Every time we go, we do get a little bit closer. We just need to work a little harder for him.
Player
(Emma…)
Option 1: “You're right!” |
---|
Player You're right, Emma. Maybe I was too worked up. Club presidents are meant to be better than this. Emma That's not true. I'm just happy you're always thinking about me. |
Option 2: “I'll go get more people!” |
Player You're working so hard, but what am I doing? I'll go get you an audience! Emma Huh?! Hey, wait! Player Emma? |
Emma
Hey, I'd like you to watch and see if my songs are reaching people. Just believe.
[Fade in/out.]
Player
(Emma's singing voice… It's so gentle and warm. But just singing children's songs won't grab attention.)
Player
(I really should go and try to get more people. Just hold on, Emma… Huh?)
Player
(That boy. He's singing with Emma! Why?!)
Emma
Hey there, what are you doing here?
Boy
I heard that really loud song from over here again…
Boy
But you were singing it by yourself. I don't like it. Don't sing by yourself.
Emma
Oh, I see. That makes me really happy. You have no idea how happy I am that you're here.
Emma
I don't like singing by myself, you know. Why don't you join me?
Boy
It's fine, I guess… Hey, you. You sing too. People always sang together on Sundays.
Player
Huh?! Me? But this is a live show…
Emma
What a great idea! Everyone, let's sing together! I would be so happy if you could join me.
Boy
Come on, hurry up!
Player
Well, when you put it like that… Forgive me if I can't sing as well as you two!
Emma
Alright, let's start with Do-Re-Mi!
Player
(When we started singing Do-Re-Mi together, a bunch of people stopped and joined in. Emma brought power to the song!)
