Damage Reduction Stack

A Damage Reduction Stack aims to reach a total Damage Reduction as high as possible on one given note to defend against big damage note gimmicks. While it is possible with any combination of DRs, matching note counts up allows you to bring lower note count DRs which in return have higher reduction percentages.

By setting up a Strategy with three DRs who are set up in order of descending note counts and switching to it at the correct time, the final note of the cycle will have the chance of having the most DRs activate to reduce the damage.

Usually, 4/3/2 or 5/4/3 stacks are used, as they are the only stacks where all note counts are exactly one away from each other. Both have roughly the same maximum reduction power: an MSL 2 note DR blocks 50%, while an MSL 5 note DR can block 27% and proc twice in a cycle for a total of 54%. Reching that maximum power will require the 5 note DR to proc twice though, while the 2 note DR only needs to activate it's Tap Skill once. However, that also means that a 5/4/3 stack is less volatile, as it has four chances to activate any DR at all, and it is also easier to build a 5/4/3, as some of the 5 note DRs are Event Cards and available from the SBLSBL: Short for "SIFAS Big Live". The order of the cards inside the Strategy is important and must be set up in decreasing order of note count to allow the highest possible DR. The following graphic demonstrates a possible stack and how the correct order allows for big Damage Reduction potential. This example uses a 4/3/2 stack with Skill Level 1 values.

Remember that this DR stacks on top of the 15% damage reduction you probably already get from being in a 3 Gd-type Strategy.

When using a DR Stack, the note at which to switch to the DR Strategy is based on the highest note count in the stack plus 1. A 4/3/2 stack should change 5 notes before damage to have the highest potential DR land on the damage note, while a 5/4/3 stack should change 6 notes before.


1) A DR above 100% won't heal you though, it doesn't work like that.
