Variations
There have been some special SBLs which put twists on how the Event works. This page lists the SBL variants that have appeared so far.
Super SBL
The 1st Anniversary campaign featured the Super SBL, which increased the lobby size (30 players instead of 20), resulting in higher Group Target Voltages, easier Group Goals, and more MVP competition. However, all SBL medal rewards except Group Rank rewards (blue drops) were doubled, which meant you could earn a ton of them just by playing and from the Ranking rewards.
While Super SBLs are named differently, they still use the overall numbering, so they're usually just listed as “SSBL” but with the normal number (for example, “SSBL 6”).
School Idol Festival
The SIFASSIF is basically a rapid-fire triple SBL: three sets lasting two rounds each, each with their own song pools, MVPs and rankings. Each of those sets works like a regular SBL, so there's nothing too confusing going on. But because of how the “three mini SBLs” concept works, players can get massive amounts of medals from rankings and the increased play count. Other changes include:
- Each set starts at midnight instead of the usual event time (15 JST), meaning one all-day round and one 15-hour round
- Individual and Overall lobby count rewards are reduced (because each set only lasts a third as long as usual)
- The Loveca Star reward for the Overall ranking is reduced (since you get those rewards three times - but medal and memory ticket rewards are not reduced!)
Unlike SSBLs, SIFs have a seperate numbering - while the first SIF happened after SBL 8, it was not counted as 9, instead being listed as “SIF 1” and having next month's event be SBL 9.
School Idol Festival 1
The first SIF ran as part of the 2020/2021 New Year celebrations, sharing the name with the event from the finale of the first Nijigaku anime season, which had just aired - hence having the song pool of the first set focus on the group songs from the anime. The following additional changes were made:
- You can play each song 5 times per day instead of 3 times
- Group Goal rewards (red drops) are doubled
- Individual and Overall lobby count rewards stop at 6/15000 plays instead of 18/45000
2nd Anniversary SBL ("SIF 2")
The special 2nd Anniversary SBL was not named SIF, but worked the same way, with three song sets with four rounds each. The additional changes in this round were:
- Individual and Overall lobby count rewards stop at 12/15000 plays instead of 18/45000
- Instead of having the same boost for the entire SBL, each set has it's own, giving a 50% boost to all stats to one of the three groups
- High Memories can be dropped on all SBL Lives
This SBL was also the first to introduce the Advanced+ difficulty to the event. There was no Advanced difficulty anymore - it jumped from Intermediate 3 straight to Advanced+.
